Allan K received admiration due to his brand of comedy

Eat Bulaga host Allan K talked about being an intelligent comedian as his brand of comedy was defined in this recent interview.

Allan started as a singer in Bacolod City. From that, he went to Manila and started a career as a sing-along master in sing-along bars. In a recent interview on the YouTube channel of celebrity hairstylist Celeste Tuviera, the EB Dabarkad looks back at the years when he was starting.

Allan admitted that initially, he did not imagine himself to be a comedian. However, at a young age, he already has a desire to perform and entertain other people. He even shared that when he was young, his mother’s visitors would tell him to sing and they will give them money.

During his college years, Allan K said that he was the busiest singer in Negros Occidental because of several stints in a day. Having just a small audience in Bacolod, the comedian-singer aspired to have a bigger audience and this made him decide to go to Manila.

“I felt like I was born to perform eh,” he said. After two years of working in Manila, he was offered to go to Japan and it was a totally different experience for him.

During the interview, Celeste took notice of the fact that Allan is able to make the comedy legends Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon laugh. The celebrity hairstylist shared that her father said that making the famous trio laugh means that someone is an effective comedian.

Celeste also shared that her father admires the brand of comedy that Allan has and it is making fun of himself and not other people. When asked if this is difficult for him to have this brand of comedy, Allan said that it is actually easy.

The Eat Bulaga host said that an intelligent comedian knows how to use his or her personal experiences to be the topic of the skit. “Kung matalino ka talagang stand-up comedian and daling maghanap ng personal experiences eh,” he said.

Allan K added that it is funnier and he can honestly relay the story. Sadly, he said that some are just copying other comedians’ skits and when they couldn’t do it anymore, they will resort to bullying a member of the audience.
