PAGASA Says Easterlies and ITCZ to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that hot and humid weather conditions will prevail over most parts of the country.

On Thursday (April 25, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and intertropical convergence zones will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that two weather systems will continue to affect the country. The Intertropical Convergence Zone will be affecting southern Mindanao and the easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.

“Ang ITCZ patuloy na makaapekto dito sa katimugang bahagi ng Mindanao habang patuloy ang pag-ihip ng easterlies, particularly sa silangan. Ito ang magdadala ng mainit na panahon sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw,” Estareja said.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The rest of Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon will experience hot weather with chances of occasional rains and thunderstorms.

No low-pressure area or any weather disturbance is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility for the rest of April.

Meanwhile, a heat index of 45 degrees Celsius is expected at the NAIA, Pasay City station, and 43 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City. Metro Manila is also expected to experience a dangerous level of heat index.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
