Sara Duterte said that she has her own reasons why she is not attending debates

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who is running for vice president, was asked about the reason behind her absence in debates.

Just like her running mate, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, the presidential daughter did not attend the CNN Philippines debate as well. Because of this, Mayor Duterte’s opponent Walden Bello called the UniTeam’s tandem “coward” for not attending the debate last February 26 and 27.

The initial reaction of the Davao City Mayor to this was “no comment”. Based on the report from Inquirer, Inday Sara Duterte and her team discussed the statement of Bello and so she won’t give any reaction to this yet.

Asked about her absence, the presidential aspirant said that she has a reason for this but she can’t divulge that reason. “Yes, I have a reason, but I do not want to say it to the public what the reason is. We are discussing it with my team and drafting a statement. As of now, no comment,” she said.

Mayor Sara added that it is something personal and she is choosing not to share this with the public. She also said that this has been a constant discussion between her and her team about whether she would attend the debate or not.

Based on the report, Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco, the spokesperson of Mayor Sara Duterte said that the presidential daughter will also skip the debate organized by the Commission on Elections. Bongbong Marcos has not confirmed his attendance yet but his camp has sent a letter asking Comelec about the debate format.
