Pres. Duterte Speaks on the National Vaccination Drive

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed the total number of COVID-19 jabs given during the National Vaccination drive.

It is nearly two years now since the COVID-19 pandemic that hit several countries across the globe started. Currently, nations are fighting the spread of the virus through vaccination. Several vaccine brands including Astra Zeneca, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Moderna, Janssen, Pfizer, Sputnik V, and Sputnik Lite were developed.

, among the vaccine brands that arrived were Moderna, Sinovac, Janssen, Astra Zeneca, Pfizer, and Sputnik V. Some of the jabs were donated by other countries and entities while others were purchased by the government.

The vaccination program in PH prioritized the healthcare workers, the senior citizens, and followed by the individuals with co-morbidities. It is now open to the general adult population.

The vaccination of a part of the population of minors has also started. With regards to the fully vaccinated healthcare workers, senior citizens, and individuals who have co-morbidities, booster shots are now available.

However, truth be told that there are still Filipinos who are hesitant to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 thus the government and the health authorities continue to encourage the public to get vaccinated.

Recently, a National Vaccination drive was held initially from November 29, 2021 to December 1, 2021. In some areas, it was extended until December 3. Based on a report on

ABS-CBN News

, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed that 10.2 million jabs were administered during the said vaxxes push.

Pres. Duterte stressed that it is a “huge achievement” in the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The vaccination drive was done amid the threat of a new variant of the virus – Omicron.

First detected in South Africa, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned countries against the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 as it is “heavily mutated”. Currently, PH is banning travelers from several nations that recorded cases of the variant of concern.
