He assured the public that he had not possibly spread the virus among his fellow government workers because he last came to the town hall on March 29. He said town was disinfected on March 31.

He said he got infected after being exposed to a COVID-19 patient who he did not name.

He reported “being in good condition” while in isolation.

Pecson was the fifth mayor in Pampanga who publicly admitted contracting COVID-19.

The previous ones were Mayors Rene Maglanque of Candaba, Leonardo Flores of Macabebe, Darwin Manalansan of Floridablanca, and Crisostomo Garbo of Mabalacat City.

Pampanga logged 71 new COVID-19 cases as of April 6, adding to the 1,855 active cases. While the death toll has increased to 523, a total of 8,161 persons have recovered.
