Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao del Sur, April 23, 2024

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Surigao del Sur today, April 23, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Dinagat Islands earlier today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake recently-hit Surigao del Sur and it has a magnitude of 4.5.

The earthquake today that struck Surigao del Sur, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, was tectonic in origin. It hit a part of the province at 07:21 today.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao del Sur was located at 08.28°North, 126.75°East – 046 km South 79° East of Hinatuan. It had a depth of focus of 013 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake neither aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake and as well as the nearby areas. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

Intensity II

• City of Bislig, Surigao del Sur
