Religious Statue in Camarines Sur Allegedly Sheds Blood

A religious statue allegedly sheds blood in Sagñay, Camarines, the Catholic Church investigates the supernatural incident.

On March 20, 2024, during a tradition house-to-house visitation, the image of Our Lady of Fatima in Camarines Sur is said to have displayed an extraordinary phenomena. The incident happened when the revered image was brought into the home of Salvacion Navalta.

According to Navalta, upon placing the image on the altar, she embraced it tenderly, addressing it as “Mama Mary.” As she moved to kiss its hand, she was surprised after some liquid, which was believed to be blood fell from its eyes.

“Pagdating doon sa loob ng bahay namin binaba ko na sa may altar, niyakap ko po siya sabi ko ‘Mama Mary nandito ka naman sa akin.’ Nung hahalik na ako sa kamay niya… tumayo yung mga balbon ko, parang nanghihina yung mga tuhod ko, sabi ko, ‘Mama Mary ano ito?’ tapos sabi ko, ‘Diyos ko, Mama Mary, ano ang ibig sabihin nito?’” Navalta said.

The incident immediately spread like a wildfire, eventually reaching the attention of the Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish convent in the town. Witnesses, including Jovencia Avila, testified to the authenticity of the bloody tears.

Soldiers of Christ Catholic Charismatic Healing Ministry coordinator Nida Geronimo shared that the traditional house-to-house visitations have been observed for nearly four decades. She explained that the incident urges individuals to embrace the teachings of Christ.

“Sabi ko, may message o may mensahe na [gustong] iparating dito sa lugar natin… na yung mga tao talaga na sarado ang mga puso na hindi kilala ang panginoong Hesukristo. Ito na po talaga ang oras na ang tao matuto na magbalik loob sa Diyos,” Geronimo said.

The statue, made from fiberglass has now become the focus of attention for the Archdiocese of Caceres. The image has been in their possession for two years.

The Catholic Church has vowed to investigate the validity of the reported miracle, a process that could extend over several years. Additionally, there is a possibility of the Vatican becoming involved in the investigation.

Archdiocese of Caceres spokesperson Rev. Fr. Luisito Occiano acknowledged the complexity of the investigations involved in verifying such events.
