Agri damage caused by Karding now over P160M

MANILA, Philippines — The estimated cost of damage caused by Typhoon Karding (internationally known as Noru) to the country’s agricultural sector jumped to P160.1 million, said the Department of Agriculture (DA).

In its latest report, DA said this translates to a total volume loss of 7,457 metric tons (MT), affecting 3,780 total farmers, and 16,659 hectares of agricultural land.

Rice crops were still the most affected commodity with a total volume loss of 6,571 MT worth P119.4 million.

Corn also suffered losses worth P11.6, while high-value crops, specifically, assorted vegetables, lost P27.05 million worth of produce.
