NEGROS OCCIDENTAL MAYOR – A son of a mayor in the province was among those who were arrested during a drug operation by San Carlos Police.

Undeniably, drugs remain as one of the biggest and most challenging problems in the Philippines. It was one of the main focus of the Duterte administration. Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte promised the Filipinos to end the said national problem within six months since he assumed office in June 2016.

However, after more than six months, the problem is still existing. The then-President admitted that he might have miscalculated the extent of the problem. Meanwhile, several illegal laboratories were uncovered and personalities accused of involvement in the trade were arrested by the authorities.

Surprisingly, among those who were nabbed are known individuals in some fields. Some of them are popular while others are family members of a known personality.

Recently, in Negros Occidental, a son of a local chief executive in the province was one of those who were arrested by the authorities in a drug buy-bust operation. The son of the Negros Occidental Mayor who was arrested was not identified.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the San Carlos Police conducted a buy-bust operation led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon. The target was a drug personality who was allegedly selling illegal drugs at his house.

During the operation, not only the suspect was arrested but two (2) more individuals – a female senior citizen and a son of a Negros Occidental mayor. They were at the house of the target to allegedly buy drugs. Police Lt. Roby Aureta said that charges will be filed against the three (3) individuals who were arrested for violating the Republic Act 9165.
