Miss World names top 40 candidates; PH bet Tracy Maureen Perez advances

Miss World revealed its top 40 candidates ahead of the pageant’s coronation night in March, and among those who will advance further in the competition is Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez.
The beauty pageant’s organizers first announced 15 “fast track winners” on its Facebook page yesterday, Jan. 21. It then completed the top 40 by naming 25 more candidates, also on its Facebook page, today, Jan. 22.

Perez is among the beauty pageant’s “fast track winners.” Earlier in December, she secured a spot in the pageant’s top 30 after winning in the head to head challenge. She also won in Miss World’s Beauty with a Purpose challenge that same month.
Candidates who also made it as “fast track winners” were Côte d’Ivoire, Mexico, Mongolia, India, England, Kenya, South Africa, United States, Paraguay, Cameroon, Nepal, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Botswana.

Miss World was supposed to be held last Dec. 17 in Puerto Rico, but was postponed due to health and safety reasons. Seventeen contestants and personnel of the beauty pageant reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in December.

The pageant date was moved to March 16, 2022, still at the Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot.
Perez hopes to win the second Miss World crown for the Philippines, following Miss World 2013 Megan Young. The Cebuana beauty queen has been picked as a frontrunner in the competition by global pageant observers. /ra
