Queen of Tears’ Final Episode Surpasses ‘Crash Landing on You’ in tvN Ratings Record

QUEEN OF TEARS – The final episode of ‘Queen of Tears’ surpassed the tvN ratings record of ‘Crash Landing On You.’

“Queen of Tears” holds the crown as the most popular K-drama on Netflix, maintaining its position at the top of the charts in the Philippines for five straight weeks and earning high ratings in 40 other nations.

Featuring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, the show revolves around the lives of Hong Hae In, a third-generation heiress of Queens Group, and her husband Baek Hyun Woo, a lawyer and the legal director of the company. The series explores the intricate dynamics of their strained marriage, on the verge of dissolution.

The success of the K-drama is undeniable, as its final episode surpassed the finale of “Crash Landing on You,” becoming the highest-rated episode ever on the Korean network tvN.

With a rating of 24.850%, the finale of “Queen of Tears” outshone the previous record of 21.683% set by the last episode of “Crash Landing on You” in February 2020. Both series aired on tvN, the largest cable network in Korea, as well as on international streaming platforms.

“Crash Landing on You” narrates the tale of a fashion entrepreneur (Son Ye-jin) who ends up in North Korea following a paragliding accident. There, she encounters a soldier (Hyun Bin) in hiding, and their encounter blossoms into love.

The rating data comes from the April 28 report by Nielsen Korea, a market research firm, which was shared with various Korean media outlets including Maeil Business Newspaper.

Aired on April 28, the last episode centers on Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in reconciling their marriage permanently.
