Julia Barretto talked about her new series

Actress Julia Barretto had no single strand of hesitation when the series Secret Ingredient was pitched to her.

Julia has done many teleseryes in the past, most of them were with her former loveteam partner Joshua Garcia. The latest series that the actress is promoting for the streaming platform Viu.

This is her first time working with a foreign production team as this project consisted of Filipino, Korean, and Indonesian production teams.

Based on the article in Inquirer, it was easy for Julia Barretto to say “yes” to this project. “This is one of the few projects pitched to me, and when I heard the story, I was already onboard. It’s a new opportunity and it’s not something you come across every day,” the actress said.

She added that at this time, it is still not easy for Filipino artists to penetrate the global stage. Being chosen to be in this kind of project is something that she really values.

Julia also shared that working with a Filipino production is already familiar to her but it is refreshing for her to work with new people. “I feel that despite the challenges we had in the kitchen, we became tighter. We became a team because we wanted to make sure to tell its story,” she shared.

Julia plays the character of Maya in the series. Maya is a Filipino chef who is determined to move up the ranks even though her boss Arif, played by Indonesian actor Nicholas Saputra, is initially doubtful of her.

In her journey, she meets chaebol prince-in-hiding Ha-joon, played by South Korean actor Lee Sang-heon, who wants to have a normal life.

Julia Barretto shared that by playing the character Maya, it feels like she is representing the Philippines and because of this, she wants to give her one hundred percent.
