PAGASA Says Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will prevail over most parts of the country.

On Friday (April 12, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that easterlies will continue to bring cloudy skies with rain showers to parts of the country.

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Similar weather condition is expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Dagupan City’s heat index is expected to hit 44 degrees Celsius, while five other regions of the country are expected to experience 42 to 43 degrees Celsius.

The heat index in Metro Manila is expected to peak on Friday at the Pagasa Science Garden in Quezon City and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City at 40 degrees Celsius, according to the state weather bureau.

Here is the list of areas under “danger category” temperatures:

• Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 44 degrees Celsius
• Bacnotan, La Union – 43 degrees Celsius
• Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 42 degrees Celsius
• Aborlan, Palawan – 42 degrees Celsius
• Catarman, Northern Samar – 42 degrees Celsius
• Cotabato City, Maguindanao – 42 degrees Celsius

The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution based on the heat index chart, since prolonged exposure to the sun may result in heat stroke and some people may endure cramps and heat exhaustion.

When relative humidity is taken into consideration, the heat index provides an accurate representation of the actual temperature at a given place.

The weather agency has advised the public to drink plenty of water, weather heat protective clothing and to refrain from spending time outdoors.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
