Chicken Curry is a South Asian dish that originates from India. This flavor-rich and tasty dish is a favorite of many Filipinos. Many Pinoys are spice lovers and love curry which was brought to the country decades ago.

Chicken Curry is very easy to cook. It will not require a pro in cooking to be able to get to a delicious version of this dish that will sweep everyone off their feet. Below, you can check the ingredients that you will need and the steps on how to cook Chicken Curry.

The Chicken Curry is a mixture of chicken meat and vegetable ingredients. Here are the ingredients that you need to prepare in cooking for a dish that can yield up to six (6) servings:

  • 2 lbs. chicken cut into serving pieces
  • 1 piece potato cubed
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 pieces long green pepper
  • 1 piece red bell pepper sliced
  • 2 stalks celery sliced
  • 1 piece onion chopped
  • 2 thumbs ginger cut into strips
  • fish sauce and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water

The cooking process may take up to an hour or a little bit more. Meanwhile, surely, the Chicken Curry is worth it. Here are the steps on how to cook Chicken Curry:

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan and fry the potato for one (1) minute per side. Afterwards, remove it from the pan and set it aside for a while.

Step 2

Using the remaining oil, saute the onion, garlic, ginger, and celery until the onion is soft. Add the chicken and saute until the outer part of the chicken turns light brown in color.

Step 3

Add one (1) tablespoon of fish sauce and continue sauteing for one (1) minute. Add the coconut milk and water and let it boil.

Step 4

Add the curry powder. Stir it. Make sure that the powder is completely diluted. Cover the cooking pot and continue cooking your Chicken Curry between low to medium heat until the liquid in the dish reduces to half.

Step 5

Add the red bell pepper and the fried potato. Continue cooking for five (5) more minutes. Afterwards, you may season the dish with fish sauce and ground black pepper based on your preference.

After cooking, transfer your delicious Chicken Curry into a serving bowl. Serve it with steamed rice. Enjoy your meal!
