If you are a surfer or just new to surfing, one of the best places in the Philippines to catch some waves is La Union. This place is also fondly called “Elyu” and apart from the waves, one of the things to love about this place is the laidback life here and its location that is practically just near the Metro.

Elyu is just five to seven hours away from Metro Manila and dubbed the “The Surfing Capital Of Northern Philippines” in Elyu is San Juan. This same town is also the main tourist destination of this process.

When is the best time to visit Elyu?

The peak season in San Juan is from October to March, this is the time when the big waves come into play. However, the months of October and November are rainy. But if you want just to relax, April to May of the summer season is an ideal time.

San Fernando is the capital while San Juan is the surfing hub.
