Bolick cuts short stint in Japan B. League

REYNALD MAGALLON

Robert Bolick’s stint in the Japan B. League only lasted one game as he mutually parted ways with his team Fukushima Firebonds on Thursday, Oct. 19.

The Firebonds said in a statement that it was Bolick who asked for release to which the team immediately granted after discussions with the camp of the former Gilas Pilipinas guard fell through.

“Bolick recently expressed his intention to leave the club, and despite numerous discussions, he remained resolute in his decision. In the end, we chose to honor his wishes.I would like to emphasize that the contract terms did not make it easy to terminate or transfer mid-season,” Firebonds president Hajime Nishida said in a statement.

“This situation arose shortly after the season began, catching the club off guard. I deeply regret any disappointment felt by our devoted supporters who had high hopes for Bolick,” the statement continued.

The statement did not disclose the reason for Bolick’s decision.

Bolick left for the Japan B. League last May to sign a two-year deal with Fukushima after his contract with the NorthPort expired at the end of the last season.

In the PBA, his playing rights however, remained with NorthPort.

He finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in Fukushima’s 95-90 loss to Yamagata in its season opener while he did not see action in his supposed second game for the Firebonds who got back at the Wyverns 82-71.
