It’s Showtime: After MTRCB Denied The Appeals, What Will Happen Next?

What can It’s Showtime do next after the MTRCB denied their motions for consideration?

IT’S SHOWTIME – After the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) resolution, what can they do next?

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) affirms the suspension ruling. On Thursday, the agency released a resolution denying the motion for reconsideration filed by “It’s Showtime” following the initial 12-day day suspension decision.

Showtime’s suspension is due to alleged indecent or inappropriate acts of hosts Ryan Bang, Vice Ganda, and Ion Perez in front of the children during the “Isip Bata” segment.

The statement said: “Specifically, during the show’s “Isip Bata” segment, in which hosts Ryan Bang, Vice Ganda and Ion Perez allegedly acted indecently or inappropriately in the presence of children, which is alleged to have violated Section 3 (c) of Presidential Decree No. 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.”

But this is not yet final and executory. The Kapamilya noontime show can still make an appeal.

Following the denial from the MTRCB, they can still do the following:

  • appeal to the Office of the President within 15 days
  • appeal to the Court Appeals and Supreme Court

And within this period, the noontime show can still continue to air and entertain the madlang people.

During the September 28 episode of the show was graced by GMA senior vice president Annette Gozon-Valdes and ABS-CBN COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes. The appearance is to show support for the show which is currently amid a legal battle.

Meanwhile, in a previous article, MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto spoke about the Showtime suspension. Senator Jinggoy Estrada asked Sotto about the issues of the noontime show and she expressed that there are those who are in favor of the decision while others are not.

She said, “There are also a lot who were saying that the show should be canceled or the number of days [suspension] should be extended.”
