Tesda warns public vs text scams soliciting cash for skills training

MANILA, Philippines — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) has warned the public against the unauthorized use of the agency’s name to solicit money for fraudulent programs and services.

“Tesda learned that unscrupulous individuals using a certain mobile number were able to convince an unsuspecting member of the public to send P25,000 to a GCash account in exchange for Tesda skills training,” the agency said in a statement on Tuesday.

The agency said it has already reported this fraudulent transaction with the National Bureau of Investigation, National Telecommunications Commission, and the National Privacy Commission for immediate investigation and proper sanctions.

Victims of similar fraudulent activities could report it through [email protected] and 8887-7777.
