4 held for illegal cockfighting in Bataan

HERMOSA, Bataan—-Four people were arrested while allegedly engaging in illegal cockfights in Barangay Mabiga in this town, police said Monday, May 23.

The suspects were identified as Carlos Escano, 45, of Tarlac City, a contractor; Rafael Francisco, 23, and Sherwin Hipas, 26, both construction workers; and Rodora Jaime, of Barangay Mabiga, Hermosa. The fifth suspect, Zaldy dela Cruz, escaped during the raid on Sunday.

Maj. Emerson Coballes, Hermosa police chief, said the raiding team confiscated a live fighting cock, two gaffs, and P1,650 in cash bets.

The suspects were detained at the police custodial cell and will face charges.
