A pilot of Cebu Pacific caught the attention of the online community due to his post

Cebu Pacific Air released a statement regarding the social media post of a pilot, identified as Van Ranoa, against Vice President Leni Robredo.

In the post of Ranoa, he referred to the photo of VP Leni ironing the toga of her daughter as “showbiz!” According to the pilot that image was far from what he experienced.

He claimed that the Vice President held other flights last month in order for her to have priority landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The pilot acknowledged that high officials have this privilege but he pointed out that it was not an official trip because the Vice President came from a campaign event in the South.

Ranoa said that at that time, his passenger was the ambassador of Australia who just shook his head when he announced that they had to divert their flight. The pilot also claimed that pilots of Singapore Airlines and Qatar Air were also dismayed that they had to divert their flights and some passengers missed their connecting flights.

Ranoa has already taken down his post. In line with this issue, Cebu Pacific released a statement stressing that the company is giving importance to freedom of speech and expression and that employees are allowed to express their political views.

However, the company stated that they are under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and their Company’s Code of Discipline. Aside from this, the company is also implementing restrictions under its Social Media Policy.

Sensitive company information and operational details must not be disclosed publicly – even when factual and more so, if erroneous to prevent the spread of disinformation,” Cebu Pacific stated. The company added that they are now working with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) regarding this matter. It added that this matter is being dealt with internally.

However, in the statement of the airline company, it neither confirmed nor denied the allegation of the pilot against Vice President Leni Robredo.
