Solons back Romualdez as Speaker for 19th Congress

MANILA, Philippines — Newly-elected solons are backing the National Unity Party (NUP) endorsement of Leyte 1st District Rep. and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez as Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 19th Congress.
Winning Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos was among the solons who visited Romualdez in his Makati residence as he expressed support for the NUP’s endorsement of Romualdez.

Joining Marcos were representatives Jose Gay Padiernos of the GP Party-list, Bong Teves of the TGP Party-list, Zaldy Co of the Ako Bicol Partylist and Jojo Ang of the Uswag Ilonggo Partylist.
NUP spokesperson Reginald Velasco earlier said members of the party in the House have “unanimously agreed to endorse Romualdez as the Speaker for the coming Congress.”
