COVID-19 positivity rate in NCR drops to 2 percent — OCTA Research

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila dropped to just 2 percent from November 11 to 17, the first time since the region started testing, independent analytics group OCTA Research said Friday.
OCTA Research said, “this is within the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) ideal positivity rate of less than 3 percent.”

Positivity rate is the percentage of people testing positive for the coronavirus among all those tested. The World Health Organization recommends that the positivity rate should be at least 5 percent.
“The seven-day average in new cases in the NCR (National Capital Region) decreased from 420 to 349, while the reproduction number was 0.48. The incidence rate or ADAR (average daily attack rate) in the NCR decreased to 2.46 per 100,000,” the group said in its report.
Metro Manila remains under a moderate risk for COVID-19 outbreak based on the metrics of covidactnow.org.
The cities of Navotas, Caloocan, Marikina, and Valenzuela, and the municipality of Pateros were classified as very low risk while other local government units in Metro Manila are under low risk, according to OCTA Research.
“While the NCR and all the LGUs (local government units) have done well to sustain the downward trend, the goal for the region is to continue best practices and standards to decrease new cases to less than 50 per day by the end of the year,” the group noted.
