Alyssa Valdez, long considered as the darling of Philippine volleyball, will take a break from her club duties as she tackles a new role – being a celebrity contestant of a popular reality TV show.

For its Season 10, Pinoy Big Brother Season 10 has revealed that the power-hitting volleyball star will be one of its celebrity contestants.

The mere announcement that Valdez will join its show went round on social media

Wednesday night, with Valdez’s name immediately trending on Twitter following the revelation.

“Ang heartstrong phenom ng Batangas, Alyssa Valdez!” the post read, referring to the Ateneo Lady Eagles’ mantra and one of Valdez’s monikers.

Valdez gained fame in the collegiate ranks, winning multiple awards including three Season Most Valuable Player plums while playing for Ateneo.

The 28-year-old San Juan native acknowledged her invitation to the popular show in a series of tweets.

The reality TV show invites different Filipinos to live inside a house for a certain number of days where they will interact with each other. The public is allowed to

vote for who they want to win based on various reasons.
