‘Erap’ sedated, moved to ICU

FORMER president Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) after developing pneumonia caused by coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), his younger son confirmed.

Former senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada said that Estrada was moved to the ICU for “closer observation” but is in “stable but guarded condition.”

“While he needed to be placed on high flow oxygen support, we are thankful that there has been no need to put him on a ventilator,” he said on Facebook.

Jinggoy said that his father was sedated “to lessen his anxiety which may affect his heart and aggravate his condition.”

“The family would like to thank everyone who has expressed their love and support and we request continued prayers for his immediate recovery,” he added.

The former Manila mayor tested positive for Covid-19 and rushed to the hospital last week.
