70-Year-Old Man From Cagayan to Graduate from Senior High School
A 70-year-old man from Aparri, Cagayan is waiting eagerly for their graduation ceremony and to receive his diploma on stage.
Hilario Jabines, a senior citizen, is a diligent student who enrolled in the school under the Alternative Learning System, according to the teachers at Aparri East National High School. Tatay Hilario has proven that “age is just a number” as he is set to graduate from Senior High School at the end of the month.
ALS teacher Vina Victoria Abadilla expressed that Jabines was excited to start classes immediately after enrolling. Jabines’ determination to finish senior high school can also be seen.
The elderly man had to stop his studies and did not return to school because he got married and started his own family. Despite this, he saw all five of his children finish their studies and become professionals through his hard work and sacrifices.
Jabines admitted that taking care of his family’s needs was not easy, but he continued to persevere. Tatay Hilario returned to school to also show the importance of education to his grandchildren.
“Sabi ko sa kanila, huwag kayo magbu-bully, huwag kayo manghusga dahil ang ginagawa ko para sa pamilya ko,” Jabines said.
