Marcos Announces Release of P59.8 Billion Emergency Allowance for Medical Frontliners

Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced the release of the Php 59.8 billion for the emergency allowance of the medical frontliners.

There are countless of individuals in the Philippines who are working in the medical field. Many of them are nurses and doctors while others are hospital staff and medical technicians. Many of them were on the frontline of the fight at the height of the pandemic.

Whether it is amid a pandemic or not, every day, the health workers risk their lives as they attend to their professions and jobs. They deal with countless sick individuals in the hospital and, in a lot of cases, the conditions of these patients have yet to be identified.

Amid the pandemic, a lot of health workers lost their lives while in the line of duty. Undeniably, no words can express or no amount can repay the goodness and sacrifice that the people in the medical field offered for their fellow Filipino people.

On the part of the Philippine government, it assured the medical frontliners of an extra allowance for their sacrifices during the fight against the pandemic. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos announced the release of the emergency allowance for the medical frontliners.

According to the President, P59.8 billion was released and distributed to medical frontline workers as their health emergency allowance. The said amount is 78.92% of the pandemic health emergency allowance allotted for the health workers.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed the value of the sacrifices of the medical frontliners who wholeheartedly serve and show the world the excellent and concern of the Filipino people.

The announcement about the release of the P59.8 billion emergency allowance for the medical frontliners during the pandemic came after the celebration of the Health Workers’ Day when several medical workers went out to the streets to express their push for a Php 33,000 starting salary for public and private health workers.

The group also called for job security among their ranks, the releasing of the benefits, and the mass hiring to address the understaffing problem in public hospitals.
