Director Laurenti Dyogi answered the perception that the Kapamilya reality show Pinoy Big Brother does not welcome housemates who are not “gwapo at maganda.”

PBB is a popular reality show franchise in the Philippines and through this, new talents are introduced in showbiz. Many former housemates became big names in the entertainment industry.

In a series of short videos on TikTok, Direk Lauren addressed some commonly asked questions about the show or the people’s perception, based on the article in Balita.

Direk Lauren honestly answered people’s perception that Pinoy Big Brother is just for good-looking housemates. He admitted that the “face value” is essential because it is what people see first.

“Eh siyempre madalas naman po ‘yon ang una nating nakikita, ‘yong guwapo’t magaganda, hindi n’yo po pinapansin ‘yong mga mas ordinaryo looking people. Pero sa PBB we are also known to have that…” the Star Magic head said.

On the other hand, Direk Lauren said that one does not need to be as pretty as Kathryn Bernardo or as handsome as Joshua Garcia. Then, the ABS-CBN executive shared that when Joshua auditioned for this show, the actor easily caught his attention in the middle of thousands of aspirants.

It was early in April this year when a new season of PBB was confirmed. Several rumors about the show circulated. It was rumored that the Kapamilya show will be shown on GMA.

The past season was hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, Robi Domingo, Enchong Dee, Melai Cantiveros, and Kim Chiu. Bianca shared in a recent interview that she had a different dynamic when she was hosting the show with Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Padilla, who hosted the show’s first season.

Previously, Toni expressed that she would not be returning as the reality show’s host as she is already giving way to the younger generations of hosts.
