Foreign National Goes Viral for Reacting to Scent of Filipinos

A foreign national has gone viral online after commenting on how Filipinos smell, saying, ‘They smell like they came out of a washing machine.’

Johnleri in Abu Dhabi, a Facebook user, shared video of a female foreign national reacting to the scent of her Filipino friends. The video quickly circulated online garnered various reactions from the netizens.

In the video, a foreign woman expressing her wonder at the similar scent of Filipinos. According to her, whenever she smells Filipinos, they all seem to have the same scent similar to detergent.

The foreigner was so curious about this scent that she even wanted to know which detergent Filipinos use so she could use it too.

“And what you think how they smell, how they smell, they smell like they came outside of [the] washing machine, and smell is like fresh you know, they smell like detergent you know, and not only this couple, everyone! [Every] Filipino smells the same, but it’s not bad, I just want to ask you which detergent you’re using? I want the same because it smells amazing, and also, I like it! I kind like it!” the foreigner said.

“And you can say that all [Filipinos smell] the same seriously. I don’t know how, which detergent you’re using. If I will wash my clothes, the same detergent, I will be Filipino?” she added.

Johnlerie mentioned that he has been working in Abu Dhabi as an office admin for 12 years. He finds it heartening that foreigners appreciate Filipinos’ commitment to good hygiene. “Nakakatuwa na napapansin ng ibang lahi ang pagka-hygienic ng mga Pinoy,” he said.

As of this writing, the video has already reached 1 million views.
