In 2022, the rape case filed by Deniece against Vhong was revived after the Court of Appeals ordered the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office to file cases of rape and acts of lasciviousness against the male celebrity.

Vhong posted bail and he had his temporary freedom. After that, he returned to It’s Showtime which dismayed Deniece as the court denied her appeal to cancel Vhong’s bail.

Vhong Navarro also filed a case against Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee who the actor-host accused also of inflicting physical harm to him. The Kapamilya star claimed that he was detained illegally by Cedric on the night of January 22, 2014, in a condominium unit in Taguig City.

In Vhong’s statement, he said that Cedric and his other companions mauled him and allegedly they threatened to kill him. The rape accusation from Deniece was the reason pointed out by Cedric as to why he detained the Kapamilya star.

Based on the report from ABS-CBN News, the court found Deniece, Cedric, and two other respondents guilty of serious illegal detention.

During the promulgation, Vhong’s legal counsel Atty. Alma Mallonga said that the court immediately ordered Deniece to be committed while Cedric, who was not present then, ordered the businessman to be arrested. The businessman has tried to move for the dismissal of the case twice.

Based on the report, Bernice Lee, Simeon Raz, Jr., Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma, Jed Fernandez, and Ferdinand Guerrero are also accused of serious illegal detention.

Vhong Navarro has been reiterating his innocence in the rape case filed by Deniece Cornejo. His camp insisted that it would be impossible that the rape happened in just a short period of time because the CCTV footage showed that Vhong stepped out of the elevator to go to Deniece’s unit about a minute before she stepped onto the elevator from her condo unit.
