Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Catanduanes, May 1, 2024

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.4 magnitude quake in Catanduanes today, May 1, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.1 magnitude earthquake in Davao Oriental a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake recently-hit Catanduanes and it has a magnitude of 4.4.

The earthquake today that struck Catanduanes, Wednesday, May 1, 2024, was tectonic in origin. It hit a part of the province at 06:31 in the morning.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Catanduanes was located at 13.65°North, 125.19°East – 088 km South 81° East of Gigmoto. It had a depth of focus of 022 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake neither aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake and as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
