Veteran singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid revealed that the life of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano inspired him.

Both Ogie and Gary have spent decades of their lives in the entertainment industry. They are both considered OPM icons and the pillars of the music industry in the Philippines. Their respective achievements have become an inspiration for many younger artists.

However, Ogie revealed that Gary inspired him. In his recent Instagram post, the husband of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez recalled how he and Mr. Pure Energy met.

Ogie Alcasid shared that they met in 1984. At that time, he was a member of ‘Kundirana’ and Gary Valenciano became their mentor on the fundamentals of live performance. He said that Gary was already a superstar at that time.

Ogie is amazed that one day, he will be able to share the same stage with Gary. “Followed his career and music. Inspired by his life. As fate would have it, we would be put together in shows on ABS-CBN called Your Face Sounds Familiar, ASAP Natin ‘To, Co-hurado for Tawag ng Tanghalan sa It’s Showtime and even did a film together entitled ‘I Do Bidoo Bidoo’,” the singer-songwriter said.

Ogie also proudly mentioned that Gary is the godfather of their son Nate. Gary would always be present during special occasions in their family. They became brothers.

Ogie also mentioned that watching Gary perform again at his concert proved the dedication that he has to his craft. He also highlighted the faith that his friend always has.

“God bless you brother and all that you do in the name of our Lord and Savior. Love you man,” Ogie Alcasid said. This received a comment from Gary Valenciano. He thanked Ogie for the friendship. “God bless you @reginevalcasid and Nate even more!!!! Here for you always Ogie!!!!” Gary added.
