WALANG PASOK – Various local government units in the country have declared class suspensions due to the scorching heat temperature.

On Thursday (April 25, 2024), several areas in the Philippines have decided to suspend face-to-face classes in response to the scorching temperatures. The announcement comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students and educators.

The state-weather bureau PAGASA has issued a heat index bulletin, indicating that 38 areas across the country will experience “dangerous” heat index levels, with temperatures soaring between 42°C to 47°C.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan has declared the suspension of face-to-face classes in the city for April 25 and 26, 2024 due to the forecasted dangerous heat index levels.

Schools are advised to shift to asynchronous classes or alternative learning modalities to continue educational activities while ensuring the safety of students and staff.

Provinces and Cities – Suspension of face-to-face classes and shifted to blended learning or online/modular classes

  • Bulacan province
  • General Trias in Cavite
  • Pampanga

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan has declared the suspension of face-to-face classes in the city for April 25 and 26, 2024 due to the forecasted dangerous heat index levels. The suspension encompasses all levels of public and private schools, with a recommendation to shift to asynchronous classes.

Similarly, Puerto Princesa City Administrator Arnel Pedrosa has announced the suspension of on-site classes in Palawan’s capital on Tuesday.
