Lady Student in Jeepney Incident Left Shaken After Harrowing Encounter

JEEPNEY INCIDENT – A lady student faced a distressing experience while riding a jeepney in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Harassment refers to unwanted and repeated behavior that causes distress or discomfort to an individual. It can take various forms, such as physical, verbal, or online, and can occur in different settings, including the workplace, schools, public spaces, and online platforms.

Harassment can have serious consequences for the victim’s mental and emotional well-being, as well as their sense of safety and security. It can lead to feelings of fear, anxiety, and low self-esteem, and may even result in physical harm in some cases.

Around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, a young female student expressed her fear after a horrifying experience during a jeepney ride. As she boarded the jeep, another passenger, described as a tall, 40-year-old, dark-skinned man carrying a folder and a bottle of water, also got on.

When they reached Lacson Street, all passengers except the student and the man disembarked. Suddenly, she felt someone touching her stomach.

Feeling uneasy, the student checked her belongings. When she turned around, the man quickly got off the jeep. It was then that she discovered a large tear on the side of her shirt, possibly caused by a blade, without her noticing.

Feeling helpless, the student cried out for help but didn’t know what to do. She expressed her feelings, saying, “Wala na ko dayun kabalo kahimoon. I feel helpless that time and all I can do is cry and ask my sister to pick me up asap,” she said.
