Rachel Alejandro, known for her poignant ballads, earned the title “Queen of Heartbreak Songs” following the success of her hit track “Paalam Na.”

Just as depicted in her music, Rachel encountered her share of heartaches and wrestled to overcome them. During a recent appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, she disclosed the relationship that proved most challenging to move on from.

“I think my second boyfriend. ‘Yung kay Lee Robin Salazar, I think. Oo, kasi 6-year relationship ‘yun,” Rachel revealed.

Rachel also shared the reasons why this particular relationship lingered in her memories.

“The length of time, and maybe the intensity of it,” she said.

Besides Lee, Rachel confessed she faced difficulty in letting go of her bond with fellow singer-actor Dingdong Avanzado.

Fortunately, Rachel drew invaluable lessons about love and loss from her father Hajji Alejandro.

“’I’ve been at my worst,’ she said. ‘Nawala sa’kin ang taong pinakamahal ko sa buhay, and I lived,’” she recalled what her father told her.

According to Rachel, her father adopted a pragmatic approach towards such matters. “‘I’ve been through it all,’ he’d say. ‘I lost the person dearest to me, and I survived,’” she recounted her father’s words of wisdom.

Rachel has been happily married to Spanish journalist Carlos Santamaria since 2011.
