Male Employee Dies After Being Trapped in a Burning LPG Store

A male employee lost his life after being trapped in a burning LPG store in Barangay 176, North Caloocan.

Fires can be incredibly dangerous and destructive events that pose serious risks to both life and property. They can start for various reasons, including accidents, electrical faults, or even deliberate acts.

When a fire breaks out, it can spread rapidly, engulfing everything in its path and causing extensive damage.

One of the primary dangers of fires is the threat they pose to human life. In addition to the risk of burns and smoke inhalation, fires can trap people inside buildings, making it difficult for them to escape to safety, especially in crowded urban areas where buildings are closely packed together.

On Thursday evening (April 18, 2024), the residents were startled by a large fire that broke out in Barangay 176, North Caloocan. Explosions could be heard coming from various establishments, with the flames growing rapidly within seconds.

People scrambled to safety as the fire spread rapidly, particularly alarmed by the involvement of an LPG store. The first alarm was raised, prompting the response of eight fire trucks and additional volunteer firefighters.

It took over an hour to fully extinguish the blaze. The extent of the damage became apparent, with the LPG store bearing the brunt of the destruction. Tragically, one of the store’s workers was trapped inside during the fire.

According to Fire Senior Inspector Elyzer Rubel Leal of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Caloocan, based on witness accounts, the 25-year-old victim was reportedly intoxicated, which hindered his ability to escape promptly.

Three houses were affected by the fire, with some residents losing all their belongings. The estimated damage to the structures amounted to around P200,000.
