PBA Player Raymond Almazan Made Buzz Online for Allegedly Offering Bribe on EDSA Busway
PBA Player Raymond Almazan was caught on camera allegedly attempting to bribe a SAICT officer after being caught on the EDSA busway.
Recently, the Facebook page Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation shared the video of PBA center Raymond Almazan trying to bribe a SAICT officer. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
The incident took place last Monday, April 15, 2024, SAICT Coast Guard Jayson Montemayor’s reported that while they were conducting operations on the EDSA busway, an unauthorized vehicle entered the carousel, driven by Mr. Almazan.
DOTr-SAICT captured the moment when the athlete handed money to an SAICT officer. The SAICT identified the driver as Raymon Almazan, who plays for the Meralco Bolts team.
However, the officer quickly declined the bribe and issued Almazan a violation ticket for Disregarding Traffic Sign (DTS) and Failure to carry OR/CR.
The incident isn’t the first involving well-known personalities being caught on the EDSA busway. Chavit Singson, for example, even offered a reward to the MMDA after his convoy was caught using the bus lane.

“Kuha ang aktwal na panunuhol ng isang PBA player na si Raymond Almazan ng Meralco Bolts team sa isang operatiba ng Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) nitong Lunes, ika-15 ng Abril 2024.
Ayon sa report ng SAICT Coast Guard Jayson Montemayor, habang isinasagawa ang operasyon sa EDSA busway, isang hindi awtorisadong sasakyan ang naglakas loob dumaan sa carousel na minamaneho ng isang basketball player na si Mr. Almazan.
Napansin ng operatiba na naglabas ito ng pera at kinurompot paabot sa nasabing officer. Agad naman tinanggihan at inissuehan ng violation ticket na Disregarding Traffic Sign (DTS) at Failure to carry OR/CR.”
