Central Luzon cops on alert amid transport strike

OLONGAPO CITY — Policemen in Central Luzon remained on full alert amid the two-day nationwide transport strike, which began on Monday, April 15. In a statement, Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr., director of Police Regional Office 3, said the full alert status would ensure the safety and security of commuters potentially affected by the transport strike. Several major transportation groups are protesting the government’s phased plan to replace public utility jeepneys (PUJs).
