Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Davao Occidental, April 12, 2024

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, April 12, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Dinagat Islands earlier today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Davao Occidental earlier today has a magnitude of 4.1.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Occidental, Friday, April 12, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 03.62°North, 126.68°East – 243 km South 35° East of Balut Island in the Municipality Of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 103 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake neither aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake and as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was recorded as well.
