Pops Fernandez received this question about the Megastar

Concert Queen Pops Fernandez has this answer when asked if there was ever a rivalry between her and Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Pops and Sharon started their career in showbiz in the 1980s. Pops was more known to be a recording artist even though she did some movies. On the other hand, Sharon was one of the most prominent actresses of her generation. Her loveteam with her ex-husband Gabby Concepcion was very successful.

In a recent interview on Fast Talk, the talk show of King of Talk Boy Abunda, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Pops was asked about Sharon during the height of their careers in showbiz.

“Were you ever rivals with Sharon?” Tito Boy asked the Concert Queen. Pops Fernandez answered, “Ako, hindi.” She said that people were just trying to put rivalry between her and Sharon Cuneta.

“I know that the people pitted us against each other… and of course, we had the same manager discoverer, si Ninong Tito, ‘no?” the Concert Queen explained.

Meanwhile, back in 2021, Pops shared that she was surprised by Sharon’s generous gift for her. It was a Christian Dior personalized bag with the name “Cielito” written on it which is Pops’s real name.

The Concert Queen has become inactive in showbiz for quite a while. In 2022, she shared in an interview that she thought of retiring already but she postponed her retirement because of the series of shows she had with fellow divas Jaya and Kuh Ledesma.

One of the recent stints on TV that Pops Fernandez had was the show weekly afternoon drama For The Love. She is sort of the storyteller of the show and she sings the theme song for the specific episode. Pops admitted that since most of the songs belong to the Gen Z era, it is challenging for her to perform these.
