Truck Driver Involved in Kokoi Baldo’s Untimely Death, Now Released

KOKOI BALDO DEATH – The truck driver who was allegedly involved in the tragic accident leading to the reggae singer’s demise was released.

Last week, the untimely death of The Voice Season 2 contestant Kokoi Baldo became one of the most discussed topics online. The sad news saddened thousands of his Filipino fans.

The 44-year-old reggae singer attempted to overtake a pickup truck on Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City but lost control of his motorcycle. The incident leads him to fall and slide beneath the wheels of the truck.

Kokoi’s head and brain were tragically crushed on the road due to the accident, which led to his sudden death.

On Monday morning (December 11, 2023), Police Major Armilyn Vargas, the head of Bacolod Police Station 3, confirmed that Benny Flor, the driver of the truck carrying sugarcane that was involved in the accident with reggae artist Kokoi Baldo, has been released from custody.

According to Vargas, Flor was released at 6:00 AM earlier today, Monday, after the completion of the 18-hour regulatory period. Flor voluntarily surrendered to the police following the tragic accident in the early morning of December 8, 2023.

Furthermore, Vargas added that Kokoi’s family representative and Kokoi’s wake are scheduled to meet today to discuss matters. Vargas mentioned that they previously attempted to settle last Friday but were unsuccessful.

The recent update indicates a step in the legal process after the tragic incident. As investigations continue, the driver has been released from custody within the bounds of the regulatory period.
