Controversial television network SMNI pays Jay Sonza Php 1 million a month.

Former broadcaster Jay Sonza is being paid a hefty amount every month as a consultant for the television network SMNI.

The last time people heard about Jay Sonza was when he was imprisoned for his pending criminal cases. The former broadcaster is known for being fearless and vocal regarding his stand on certain issues.

Last August, Sonza was detained at QC Jail.

His pending criminal cases and standing warrant of arrest were due to syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment. Sonza’s mugshot photos circulated and went viral online. As of this writing, he is trending again but this time around, it is because of the amount he is receiving from the television network SMNI.

Accordingly, SMNI was paying him P1 million per month for his expertise.

This was revealed when he appeared before the House Committee on Legislative Franchises for the resumption of inquiry on the alleged franchise violations of the TV network. He was not present during the first two hearings.

In the event, he presented himself as the consultant for broadcast operations of the SMNI. Quezon 2nd district Rep. David “Jay-jay” Suarez asked him how much he is receiving being in that position.

He was initially hesitant to say it but he was forced to and sheepishly, he revealed, “It’s a sizable amount Mr. Chairman…A million…A million per month.”

Sonza then revealed in front of the panel that he started working for the network last March 20 which was more than eight months ago already and this period would make him earn 8 million so far. He ended here and did not give further details about his professional arrangement with the controversial television network.

At that event, Sonza was accordingly allowed to address and answer the queries of the solons.
