PAGASA Says Amihan and Shear Line to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Shear line and amihan will bring rain over parts of the country.

On Thursday (November 23, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and the northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo reported that the shear line will be affecting Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon will affect the rest of Luzon.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Quezon, and the Bicol Region. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

“Pinag-iingat parin ang ating mga kababayan diyan dahil bagamat hindi natin inaasahan ang tuloy-tuloy na pag-ulan sa may Northern Samar, dahil na rin inulan ang area na ito sa mga nakaraang araw, ay posible pa rin ang pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” Del Mundo said.

Cloud clusters in the eastern part of Southern Luzon, the Northern Samar area, and the western part of Palawan are currently being monitored.

“But this is not yet an LPA. Still, Pagasa will continue to monitor in the coming hours and issue rainfall advisories and thunderstorm advisories whenever it affects any part of the land,” he added.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. The remaining parts of the country will experience similar weather conditions due to the localized thunderstorms.

The weather agency also warned the residents in the affected areas for flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon will be moderate to rough. Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate coastal waters, according to PAGASA.
