Alfred Vargas could only be too happy to star in a film with the country’s one and only Superstar, Nora Aunor.

The film, titled “Pieta,” which is set to start its principal photography soon, is to be directed by Adolf Alix Jr.

According to the actor-politician, he has long been dreaming of the chance to work with Nora.

“One check ito sa bucket list ko and I can only imagine na sa red carpet, to walk with Nora Aunor, na National Artist pa! Yun ang gist ng feelings ko. I’m just excited to work with Nora Aunor,” he told us during a recent press conference.

He vowed, “I will do my best here. Gagamitin ko lahat ng kaalaman ko, talento ko, ilalabas ko talaga kasi the Superstar deserves nothing less.”

 “Nakakataba ng puso na malaman na hindi pala lahat ng projects, tinatanggap niya. Suwerte akong nakita niya na itong project with me is something worth doing, being who she is. The star and the National Artist that she is, e, nakakataba ng puso.”

Alfred made clear the film is not a remake of the late great Ace Vergel’s “Pieta” as written by Carjo J. Caparas.

“Both films just share the same title pero iba po to,” he said. “Nanay ko po dito si Nora and my character is supposed to be an ex-convict.”

Alfred and Nora are to co-star with actor-director Gina Alajar in the film.

Gina will play Nora’s devoted friend in “Pieta.”

Alfred admitted, “It’s a huge honor for me na makasama both sina Nora and Gina in this film dahil pareho ko silang tinitingala, hinahangaan pero, yun nga may kaba din. Malaking kaba. Pero it’s a good kind of kaba dahil may halong excitement.”

Both Nora and Gina maintained they were quick to say yes to the project knowing how good the material is.

Beyond that, they were as excited to work with Alfred.

“Mabait and very professional si Alfred so really, you can’t ask for more mula sa isang katrabaho and I’m excited with this film,” said Gina.

Nora, on her part, said, “Talaga pong napakabait niyang kausap. Hindi mo iisipin na isa siyang konsehal. Masyado siyang mapagkumbaba. At sobrang intelihenteng tao, at maunawain po. Kaya nga ako ay masaya rin na mapasama sa proyektong ito.”
