11 local holiday bills hurdle Senate panel

MANILA, Philippines — Eleven local holiday measures hurdled the Senate Committee on Local Government on Monday.

Senator JV Ejercito, the panel chairperson, said the 11 bills would be submitted to the plenary for deliberations.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines supported the measures and did not express any objection.

The following are the 11 measures that are seeking local holidays:

Senate Bill No. 1153 – An Act Declaring February 21 of Every Year as “Araw ng Marinduque,” a Special Nonworking Holiday in the Province of Marinduque
