Close to 4,000 Central Luzon folk still in evacuation sites due to Karding

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — At least 1,124 families, or 3,946 people, remained in various evacuation sites in Central Luzon as of Friday after being displaced by Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru), according to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).
Most of the evacuees are from the provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija, which both sustained massive damage to agriculture and infrastructure.

The latest data from RDRRMC showed that Karding affected 208,475 families, or 768,006 people, in the region. Most of them were displaced by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains.
A total of 22 localities in the region continued to experience power interruptions due to damaged transmission lines.
At least eight people in Central Luzon were killed at the height of Karding, the RDRRMC also said. Five of them were personnel of a rescue team from Bulacan province who died while responding to flood-hit areas in San Miguel town. INQ
