HenryPH: PAGASA Says Super Typhoon Henry to Bring Rains Over PH

HENRYPH – The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Super Typhoon Henry will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Thursday (September 1, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Super Typhoon Henry will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Super typhoon Henry (international name Hinnamnor)  has been last spotted at 530 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 230 kph.

Henry is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, which may bring rains over the western section of Luzon. It will bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Under these conditions, isolated to scattered flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps, and in localities with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.

The super typhoon will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Batanes, Cagayan, Zambales, and Bataan.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy weather condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency also warned the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and during severe thunderstorms.

Henry is expected to move southwestward on Thursday through Friday (September 2) early morning while decelerating. The weather disturbance is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday evening (September 3) or Sunday morning (September 4).

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Gardo has been last spotted at 885 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of 70 kph. It will not have a direct impact on country’s weather condition.

The coastal water condition over northern Luzon will be rough. The remaining parts of the archipelago will be slight to moderate, according to the weather bureau.
