Thrice the fun

While most of those regularly performing at comedy bars lost a lot financially during the pandemic, it was different for the trio of Chad Kinis, Lassy Marquez and MC Muah. They were actually able to rise above it all, finding a new avenue for their brand of comedy via YouTube.

In a recent interview, Chad explained, “Kami kasi we never easily give up. I guess nung kagipitan, lumabas ‘yung entrepreneurial spirit namin. Naghanap at nakakita kami ng puwang sa YouTube dahil hindi namin kinahon ang sarili namin.”

It’s harder than usual and as such it took some adjustment.

Chad related, “Of course, gaya ng anumang bago, kailangan aralin mo. Actually, nahirapan din kami sa umpisa kasi siyempre, una, hindi namin nakikita ang audience namin so, hindi namin alam kung ano talaga ang reaksyon nila sa mga skits o jokes naming pero ‘yun nga eventually nakasanayan din namin.”

It helps that the trio’s bond is solid as a rock.

Lassy maintained, “Kami ‘yung tipong walang iwanan. Kahit anong mangyari.”

MC admitted, “Nagkakatampuhan din kami, nagaaway pero ‘yung nga because we treat each other as family, madali naming nareresolba.”

Now, they are testing their meetle in a big way, organizing a huge concert at the New Frontier Theater dubbed “Beks 2 Beks 2 Beks.”

It is slated Aug. 26.

“Iba ang ipapakita namin dito,” promised Chad. “Maraming bago. Hindi mo puwedeng sabihin na ‘ay, napanood na naming sila dati, pareho lang ‘yan.’ Promise, iba ang concert na ito – more fun, more laughter and more music.”

Note that it also involves many of their friends, including Vice Ganda, Zeinab Harake, Ate Gay, Michael Pangilinan, Bugoy Drilon, Daryl Ong, among others.
