Quinley Quezada and Katrina Guillou struck like thieves in the night and led the Philippine women’s football team to a stunning 2-1 come-from-behind win against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a friendly match Sunday, June 26, at the Matija Gubec Stadium in Krsko, Slovenia.

Quezada and Guillo connived down the stretch and found the back of the net in a span of five minutes en route to their second straight win against the same opponent, who, they defeated last June 24 via a 3-0 score.

After Selma Kapetanovic yielded an early goal – in the 11th minute mark –  the Filipinas struggled the rest of the first half. Both Quezada and Guillou only entered in the final half even as Sara Eggesvik replaced captain Tahnai Annis late in the game.

Eggesvik, off an in-bound assist, found Quezada open before dribbling her position from the far-left wing and fired the equalizer.

Five minutes latter, just before the final whistle, it was Guillou who found the back of the net with powerful left-footer.

Last week, the Philippines women’s national team absorbed a 1-0 defeat to Ireland in another friendly match.

The Filipinas, coached by Alen Stajcic, are fine-tuning for the upcoming 2022 AFF Women’s Championship to be held next month here in the Philippines with Manila, Biñan, Laguna, and Imus, Cavite as host venues.

They join Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia in Group A.
