Bongbong Marcos to designate Zagala as next PSG commander, senior military assistant

MANILA, Philippines — President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will designate Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson Col. Ramon Zagala as his senior military assistant (SMA) and as the next commander of the Presidential Security Group (PSG).

AFP public affairs office chief Col. Jorry Baclor confirmed this to INQUIRER.net on Sunday, but also clarified that there is no official order for the designation yet.

“He will be designated effective June 30 pero wala pang official order (but there is no official order yet),” said Baclor.

“But he will be designated for sure kasi si Col. Zagala na ‘yung nag-confirm (because Col. Zagala had already confirmed it himself),” he added.

According Baclor, Zagala will be serving the two designation in acting capacities.

Zagala will replace outgoing PSG commander, Brig. Gen. Randolph Cabangbang.

As the next PSG chief, Zagala will head the task to guard and ensure the safety of President-elect Marcos Jr.
