PDI receives award as top broadsheet
The Philippine Daily Inquirer was recognized as the country’s Best Broadsheet at the 19th Gawad Tanglaw in ceremonies held May 19 in Quezon City. The Gawad Tanglaw, or Gawad Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw, is a 19-year-old organization composed of members of the academe, scholars, historians, film critics and performance artists. It aims to “uplift the present state of media and performing arts in the country, and recognize exemplary works in various media.” Accepting the award on behalf of the paper is assistant vice president for corporate affairs Connie Kalagayan, who thanked Gawad Tanglaw for yet another recognition of the Inquirer’s efforts and sense of mission.
